A group of Sculpture Cymru Sculptors exhibited a show of small works at Moma in Machynlleth. It ran from the start of October 2023 until Saturday February 3 in 2024.
Artists showing included Nigel Ash, Geraint Edwards, Dilys Jackson, Paul Kincaid, Alison Lochhead, Nick Lloyd, Tania Mosse, Valerie Coffin Price, Gwyneth Price, Sue Roberts and Heather Burnley. Works were in bronze, stone and mixed media.
Members exhibiting pursue a variety of interests from the concerns around movements of people as a consequence of global heating and political upheaval, the experience of landscape and the intrinsic nature of materials used and their potential for expression and the carrying of meaning.
Members continue to show at Mid Wales Art Centre, near Caersws during 2024. There are plans for an exhibition in Barry at Art Central, entitled Sculpture Cymru and Friends : A meeting of Minds. Members have invited guest artists to show with them. We hope to make new contacts and encourage new affiliations. This exhibition is to run from November the 2nd until January 11 2025.
We are also starting to prepare for a larger show at Moma later in 2025 using the dedicated sculpture space at the rear of the gallery and the long room adjacent to it. Dates to be announced.
