NAME: Sonya Dawn Flewitt PROFILE: I have developed a foundry process exploring molten metal as a free flowing process in its own right. This leaves me no choice but to work quickly and intuitively, as the moment the metal leaves the crucible furnace it begins to solidify. By melting salvaged and recycled metals I am developing a visual vocabulary that moves between the abstract, conceptual, figurative, landscape and botanical forms, composing a dialogue which comments on sustainability on a creative, emotional and environmental context. I joined Sculpture Cymru in 2004 and I am so glad I did,
not just the exhibitions, opportunities but the members too are
wonderful. I look forward to the next time we hang out creatively,
that is.
