NAME: Perryn Butler PROFILE: I trained at the Carmarthen College of Technology and Art, and have been a professional sculptor for 23 years. I have studios in both Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, where I produce my work, which is predominantly in stone. I have worked on several public and private commissions, creating the originals in stone, which are then cast into bronze. When working on a commission, I produce a series of working drawings, and when creating my own pieces, I work intuitively straight into the stone. My sources of inspiration come from studying primitive art and
its derivations such as Cubism. Sometimes I use a theme like a
series of lovers, historical characters or Cubist still life with
musical instruments, which have also evolved into fabric constructions.
