NAME: Ann
Goodfellow
PROFILE:
My work deals primarily with the figure, conveying notions of
existence, and other aspects of the ‘human condition’.
Working large-scale, and always using ceramic material, I am
continually searching for new ways of presenting the figure.
At present I am developing a body of work, which explores the
idea of ‘presence’ linked to temporal experience. Underpinned
by the philosophies of Heidegger, and Merleau-Ponty, the pieces
reflect precise moments in time, and space. The highly graphic
surface qualities make reference to the gestures, and rhythms
of drawing, and evidence my own presence, as the artist.
Ann Goodfellow studied at Swansea Institute of Higher Education,
gaining a BA (Hons) in Ceramics in 1996. From this time
until the present she has been a part-time lecturer at Coleg
Sir Gar, and also a tutor within Community Education. In 2006
she completed further study at U.W.I.C. gaining an M.A. in Ceramics.
During the last three years she has been a director of a local
artists’ co-operative gallery.
