CASTLE : SCULPTURAL RESPONSES
Kidwelly Castle, South Wales
EXHIBITION : JUNE - SEPTEMBER 2012
Following the success of Ironstone Sculpture at Kidwelly Castle in 2010. UK based artists are invited to submit work for an exhibition of sculpture to be held in the grounds of Kidwelly Castle, South Wales. Work in all materials will be considered, however it will need to be robust to withstand four months in an outdoor public venue. The exhibition will run from June to September 2012. Artists are asked to propose work to be created in response to the Castle and its site. All applicants must visit the Castle site to suggest where they would intend to install their work.

The exhibition will be held within the walls and amongst the buildings of Kidwelly Castle, which dates from the 10th century and is a dramatic fort overlooking the river Gwendraeth and Kidwelly town. Photographs of the site can be viewed at http://cadw.wales.gov.uk/daysout/kidwellycastle/?lang=en

Selection
The exhibition will be selected by David Hastie, Director of Locws International, in consultation with Cadw Inspectorate and Sculpture Cymru. It is envisaged that ten to fifteen works will be selected
Fees
A Fee up to £600.00 will be paid for each exhibitor. This includes all expenses.
Catalogue
There will be a publication and website celebrating the exhibition, containing information about the exhibitors plus commissioned articles about artworks in historic sites.
