12 members of Sculpture Cymru are showing their work at the Kidwelly Industrial Museum. This museum is quite unique, it is full of wonderful old machinery and specifically tells the story of how tinplate was made until the 1950s and what it was used for. In addition to the tinworks the museum has diesel engines, hot and cold rolling mills, massive spanners, a fantastic steam boiler and the remains of the colliery works; it is a wealth of intrigue and interest. When you visit you will see sculptures tucked in with the machinery, echoing shapes and teasing you about whether this is part of the museum exhibit or a sculpture exhibit. It is a fabulous venue.
This exhibition at the Kidwelly Industrial Museum was shown at the 6th International Cast Iron Conference which was held from 7 – 10th July 2010 at the Museum. The exhibition was shown outside during the Fe10 Conference and is now being shown inside the museum until September 2010.
Opening times:
Weekdays: 10 am – 5 pm
Saturday and Sundays: 12 noon – 5 pm
There are very light refreshments available. It is a museum from the past, to be explored and discovered.
